CO-OWNER & VICE PRESIDENT

Meet Ryan Smith, a talented & accomplished craftsman, client partner, and Co-Owner of New Dimensions Construction. Ryan brings a wealth of knowledge in Appropriate Technology, design, construction management, and leadership to our day-to-day operations. Ryan has an appreciation for preserving the integrity of historic homes and spaces, coupled with a passion for modernizing interiors with state-of-the-art features. His expertise, collaborative nature, and innovative solutions reinforce our commitment to quality and craftsmanship across every project.

LEAD PROJECT MANAGER

Once under contract with New Dimensions, you'll begin seeing and hearing from Ben Parker, our Lead Project Manager. Ben brings a unique blend of environmental consciousness and project management acumen to the New Dimensions team. A graduate of Appalachian State University and the Law School at UNC-CH, Ben manages client relationships, permitting, inspections, timelines, and daily on-site operations for New Dimension’s projects. With practical project management skills and a commitment to sustainability, Ben ensures our projects meet client expectations and New Dimensions' standards of excellence.

CO-OWNER, FINANCIAL MANAGER & ESTIMATOR

Susan, originally from River Forest, IL, arrived in Chapel Hill in 1977 with a BA in Psychology and a background in carpentry and construction management. Together with Giles Blunden, she co-founded Space Builders and served as job and general manager until 1991, while obtaining an MEd in Adult Education and Organizational Development from UNC Chapel Hill. At New Dimensions, Susan works as the financial manager and supports project management and estimation.

Larry Smith, a Carrboro native, discovered his passion for construction as a teen while working on his family home. After high school, he honed his skills as a carpenter while building custom homes and additions in Colorado and Montana for a decade. In 1984, Larry returned home to join Space Builders as a job manager and owner, before founding New Dimensions in 1995. With Larry at the helm, New Dimensions has completed countless custom homes, additions, and renovation projects. When not working, Larry enjoys flying, skiing, and cheering on Tarheel basketball and the Denver Broncos.
